Before and After – Subic Bay Mountains

For today I am doing a comparison of a photo straight from the camera and then again after post processing.  The camera was a Panasonic FZ1000. The subject was a Northwest shore of the Subic Bay as shot from White Rock Hotel and Resort.

The first image is straight from the camera “RAW” file converted to JPEG with no other changes..  Note that matching JPEG was not notably better.  There was a fair amount of haze present.

The second image below is post processed in Adobe Lightroom 6.  The adjustments made are as noted in order.

Dehaze +40 – This was my first step to see if the overall tone could be effectively improved.
Highlights -46  Shadows +60  Clarity +32  Vibrance +50
Sharpen (from RAW file default) +55  with Radius 1.0, Detail 24, Masking 8

I’ll let you be the judge as to if it was worth the effort.  I personally like the outcome.  Now of course, this is not a great image interest wise, but is used only to show what a few minutes with a photo editor can do.  Similar results can be had with programs like Apple’s Photo or Photoshop Elements, as well as a great many other editors.

You should be able to click on either image to see a larger version.
